Lyon, France

OK this first photo is a view of Lyon from the Croix Rousse, where I am staying. It is basically a hill looking down on a penninsula called the Presque'Ile. Over on the right is Vieux Lyon, the old part of the city.

This is Place Terroux, just down the hill from us. In the background is Hotel de Ville, the town hall. Off to the extreme left is the route I take to go back to back to the Croix Rousse... i.e. up a huge hill.

Some fields outside of Lyon (bike ride).

This is the fountain at Place Terroux. The sculptor is the same guy who did the Statue of Liberty.

This is the Place des Jacobins, a square with a cool fountain in the middle. During the Revolution, I think the guillotine was used here.

Another shot of the fountain at Place des Jacobins. There was some sort of riot here this past weekend between fascists and anti-fascists.

This is a photo of my French class at the Alliance Francaise.

Ca c'est notre "bar du coine" - The Smoking Dog. It is an English Pub in Vieux Lyon.

This is a photo of the aboveground tram near Metro Guillotiere, where I am taking classes at the Alliance Francais. There are always people selling drugs around here and I think it is maybe a bad area at night, but I am not sure.

Smart Car. These are all over Europe. Its basically a love seat with wheels.

For the entire month of October and half of November there was a sort of Carnival which extended all along the street and in the park directly outside out apartment.

This is just a shot of the street at night in the rain. This is my street: Blvd de la Croix Rousse.

One day I took a walk up in the Parc along the Rhone. It was very nice and peaceful there.

This is Tim and Nadja. In the background is Sylvie and some other woman whose name I forget. This photo is in Place Terroux, after we had gone to a Bouchon... le cuisine Lyonaise typique.

This is just a photo with some grafitti, which I liked the look of.

The latest in French fashion. Actually, the fashion seems to be wearing a skirt over pants, and also often with high heels of some sort. The French women's fashions are pretty interesting actually.

A line waiting to get into the Wong Kar Wai film 2046. I saw this film: Cantonese with French subtitles. Je n'ai bien entendu.

Between Place Terroux and the Croix Rousse is this hill, which goes on forever. It is very tiring to walk up it. You can also take the Metro, but I usually don't.

The door to our apartment. Notice the doorknob is in the center of the door. This is typical in France.

This is nothing, just a photo of a magazine ad with graffiti on it.

This is the River Soane at night.

This is some sort of barge on the River Soane. In the background, that hill is the Croix Rousse, where I am living.
