Naples

This is the basic "look" of thinks in Naples... a sort of crumbling aesthetic.

This is Via Tribunali, a typical Naples "street"... very narrow. There were always mopeds zipping down these roads swerving around the pedestrians.

Another street scene (and some local graffiti). Imagine mopeds driving along this street... also cars drove through here.

Another typical "traffic" shot: a bus, multiple cars, mopeds and pedestrians all on one of these narrow alleys. These were not going slow either.

This is the interior of Santa Chiara... a very beautiful, dark and sort of creepy church.

This is a creepy statue of Jesus in the Santa Chiara.

I forget where I took this photo, but it is a nice looking church.

This is Palazzo Reale.

A view from our hotel balcony near Stazione Centrale. This is a dangerous and seedy area. There were prostitutes walking up and down the sidewalk. While I was standing out here with my camera, I witnessed this guy get beat up pretty bad by two other dudes. This photo shows the crowd that gathered around as the guy lay unconscious on the sidewalk.

This is a photo of Tim at Trianon, our favorite pizza place in Naples, and by far the best pizza I have ever had. We went to this place literally about 7 times.

A view from the boat on the way to Capri. Mt. Vesuvius on the right (volcano).

A panoramic view of Capri.

Two interesting photos from Capri. The first is some sort of fashion photo shoot that was going on. Thes second photo is a bunch of cats that were sleeping together in a tree.

These kids were hanging out in Piazzetta Nilo, near San Paolo Maggiore while me and Tim were at a cafe having Proseca. They were goofing around and having a good time.

A photo of me at Trianon. Each person gets their own pizza.

Some statues at the Museo Nazionale. During this European trip I have been becoming more and more interested in sculpture, especially these classic Roman style sculptures.

OK, Pompeii. Pompeii was huge... vast. We basically spent an entire day there, and it was very hot and sunny. This is the Basilica (2nd century BC).

A plaster cast of a dog that died during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.

I think this is called the forum.

Interesting architecture... there were these skylights all over the place, which created some interesting lighting and spatial effects.

This ia a painting on a wall in the "House of the Venus Marina". I think there were paintings and decorations everywhere. It must have been a very beautiful and impressive city.

Another photo.

Tim checking out the painted walls.

I can't remember where this photo was taken, but it is typical of the architecture there... i.e. columns, etc.

The Temple of Apollo at Pompeii.

This is another shot of Palazzo Reale, at night.

This is Castel Nuovo, near the harbor.

This is a sort of indoor mall on via Toledo. It was very impressive with a tall vaulted ceiling, and cafes and shops all around. Via Toledo, by the way, is the most crowded street where everyone hangs out at night. It was crazy and wild and chaotic, but I dont think I got any photos of it.
